SHARKELLIUN INFO CARRD

。・。🦈。・。

Sharkelliuns are an alien race of anthropomorphic sharks which includes a wide variety of subspecies. They exist in the Treasure Planet universe.

₊˚.༄ Created by Scribblue! Credit is appreciated if you're using the species name/lore/etc in your work, but I obviously don't own the concept of anthro sharks so it's not required! This is just for fun!₊˚.༄ Of course, if you do make your own Sharkelliun, I'd love to see! Feel free to tag me over on TikTok or share your work on my discord server, Scribblue & Friends Infodump Corner!
(We love TP OC's over there!)

Physical Attributes

₊˚.༄ Features vary greatly between subspecies, but there are a few traits they all share. All sharkelliun are bipedal and sport both lungs and gills, making them able to breathe on land and in water. All have tails, though they differ in size, appearance, and fin type.₊˚.༄ Most sharkelliuns to have three to five fingers, with some only having a mitten-like flipper and thumb.₊˚.༄ Sharkelliuns can not grow hair on their heads, but some are able to grow body hair in sparse regions such as their chest, arms, and shins. Some may choose to wear custom wigs.₊˚.༄ Many Sharkelliuns have multiple rows of teeth, and are able to regrow the ones they lose.₊˚.༄ Some pierce, gauge, or otherwise decorate their fins/cartilage, but it is a personal choice rather than cultural. Many choose to go barefoot.

Size

₊˚.༄ Sharkelliuns can vary in size from 1’ (Dwarf Lantern and Cookie Cutter Sharkelliuns) to 15’ (Whale Sharkelliun), with unique minimum, maximum, and average heights within their specific subspecies.₊˚.༄ The average height of each subspecies is roughly equal to 30-35% of their real-life counterpart’s maximum and minimum lengths, respectively, with some smaller subspecies having an average height variation of roughly 10-15%.

Example: the maximum length of a Great White is around 20ft, making the maximum height of a Great White Sharkelliun around 7ft. (35% of 20 = 7). Which puts Mackie’s height of 6.8 on the taller side of his subspecies, whose minimum size is around 5ft.
Sigara falls within the average height range for a Cookie Cutter Sharkelliun at 2ft. (between 1-3ft).

Culture

₊˚.༄ Sharkelliuns evolved on an earthlike planet, Terdivmare, which continues to support a moderately sized Sharkelliun population. They are able to live amongst their own specific subspecies or cohabitate as desired, moving between civilizations built on land and underwater.₊˚.༄ Terdivmare is teeming with life, both flora and fauna, some of which have formed symbiotic relationships with the Sharkelliuns that prefer aquatic life.

Example: fishlike creatures help clean their teeth or gills while eating the bacteria, or utilize the Sharkelliun’s protection while emitting bioluminescent light to allow lesser-equipped subspecies find prey in the murky depths.

₊˚.༄ Some sharkelliuns, particularly those who spend most of their time in the oceans and seas, enjoy hunting for their meals. Others filter microorganisms through the water, hunt for small prey above ground, or rely on farming, markets, and trade.₊˚.༄ Despite many Sharkelliuns expressing comfort with their lives on Terdivmare, others do not consider it home. Some left in droves and spread out among the galaxy generations ago, creating various pockets of sharkelliun communities elsewhere. And there are others still who do not seek out community with their own kind (subspecies or Sharkelliuns as a whole), being antisocial in nature.₊˚.༄ Most maintain at least a basic level of respect for each other despite the physical, social, and temperamental differences between them.₊˚.༄ Breeding between certain subspecies is possible but rare, and poses risks of complications, such as false pregnancies, birth defects, and long-term health issues. Physically, mixed-species Sharkelliuns tend to take after the mother’s side, but not always.₊˚.༄ There is no organized religion on Terdivmare, though some off-world Sharkelliuns have adopted the religions or cultural practices of other alien civilizations.
